by Fahad Saleem

Apple has launched a new stunning Photos App for all the photos management in Mac OS X. But users were enjoying the iPhotos app for years. They have huge piles of photos in iPhotos. Apple’s new Photos app gave one single prompt and opportunity to move and transfer iPhotos albums and photos to the Photos app, but most of the users missed that window. But don’t worry, you could always transfer and move photos from iPhotos app to Photos app in Mac OS X. Here’s how.

Transfer photos from iPhotos to Photos App

Close and sign out of iPhotos and Photos app.

Now launch the photos app again and immediately press and hold the options key. Keep pressing it until you see the following library options screen.

Select iPhotos library and click ‘Choose library.

transfer from iphotos to photos 1

transfer from iphotos to photos 2

transfer from iphotos to photos 3

If you don’t see the iPhotos library option in the selection list, just click the ‘other library’ and select the iPhotos library manually from the files.

That’s it. The system will take some time to move photos from iPhotos to the new Photos app depending upon the number of photos and size of files. This was how to transfer albums, libraries and photos from iPhotos to the Photos app in Mac. Enjoy.
