How to unlock your WhatsApp messages using the Fingerprint Lock

There is a new interesting feature on the WhatsApp beta channel; feature that has been for a long time been a requested by users on Android, while their counterparts on iOS have been using it now for quite some time. The feature, fingerprint support, is now available for Android users.

The new feature has been rolled out on WhatsApp v2.19.221. If you are running that version of the app on your Android device and would like to access this feature. Go to Settings > Account > Privacy and enable the Fingerprint Unlock feature.

The WhatsApp fingerprint lock is available on Android Marshmallow and later versions. Alongside this feature, WhatsApp has also added a new feature that will hide message content on the notification preview whenever the fingerprint unlock is turned on. The same applies if you are using WhatsApp widget on your home screen.

If you do not enable this feature, you will be able to reply to WhatsApp messages right from the notification preview. The same goes for answering WhatsApp voice and video calls. You can give the new WhatsApp fingerprint lock a try by downloading it from the Google Play beta program or sideloading the APK from APK Mirror.
