How to Close All Safari Tabs in iPhone for iOS 10, iOS 8 and iOS 9

When you are surfing the internet, there is absolutely no limit to tabs which you open. It happens to me every time: I am reading and researching some interesting topic, and land a page which talks about some interesting stuff. I open  a new tab to search about the word or term that the article talked about. And the loop just goes on, ending in a complete slowdown of my device and most important, a nuisance to close all the tabs. A lot of users have asked about how to close all tabs at once in iPhone. Thanks to the continuous pressures from iPhone users, Apple has finally rolled out the feature to close all tabs in iOS 10. But for other iOS versions – iOS 9 and iOS 8 – there is no built in way to close all tabs Safari. You have to use a Cydia app (for jailbroken device) or a silly, but useful, workaround. Let’s first find out how to close all Safari tabs in iOS 10 and then move on the older version.

Close All Safari Tabs in iPhone for iOS 10, iOS 8 and iOS 9

in iOS 10

When you are in your Safari browser, and have many tabs open, just press on the tabs button (just next to the new tab + icon). Here, you will see an option to close all the tabs. This nice new addition is a recent treat by Apple. Before that, there was no such option. Just press this option and all the tabs will be killed at once.

in iOS 8 and iOS 9

In iOS 8, there is no built-in option to kill all the tabs at once in Safari. I would recommend using the CloseAll app, which is a Cydia tweak for the jailbroken device. Just launch Cydia and search for “CloseAll”. After installing it, your device will be needed to re-launch Springboard. Now open safari and open as many tabs as you want. Now press on the tab button from the right corner of the browser.

Now tap and hold the “X” button on any tab out of all the tabs which will show you the x button. If you installed the tweak the correct way, you will be asked if you are sure to close all the tabs. Just allow and bam! All your Safari tabs will be closed in a giffy.

A Workaround

There is another workaround to close all Safari tabs in iOS 8 and iOS 9. For that, just launch Settings and go to “Safari” and “Clear History”. I know this sounds odd, but as soon as this option is used, all the tabs are closed; but unfortunately, your history will also be lost. So you can use this option when you really want to close all the tabs and letting go of history doesn’t make any difference to you.
