Huawei launches MateBook D, sequel to the 2017 MateBook

Taunted as the MacBook killer, Chinese electronics giant Huawei has unveiled the upgrade to their 2017 MateBook, the 2018 Huawei MateBook D.

The MateBook D (2018) comes with pretty much the same design as its 2017 predecessor, featuring a 16.0 mm thick chassis, with a 15.6-inch 1080P display with 250 nits brightness and 83% screen to body ratio.

The 2018 version comes with the following new features: Intel 8th Gen Core i5-8259U chip and the Nvidia MX150. You can upgrade the GPU chip to the Nvidia 940MX. The 2018 variant of the MateBook D comes as follows:

*i5-8250U / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD / MX150 Graphics card – $790

*i5-8250U / 8GB RAM / 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD / MX150 Graphics card – $840

*i7-8550U / 8GB RAM / 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD / MX150 Graphics card $1,020

The laptop comes with a 43.3Wh battery said to give you up to 10 hours battery life and can support up to 8.5 hours video playback. It also comes with Dolby Panoramic speakers, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, one HMDI port, and dual-antenna design for optimal Wi-Fi connectivity.

This laptop is ideal for users always on the go and wants a light machine that does not weigh them down. It similarly has a compact power adaptor making it easy to carry in your small bag.

The laptop is already on sale in China, and worldwide shipment dates will soon be announced.
