Huawei trolls Apple by giving away free power banks to customers queuing to get iPhone XS and XS Max

So apparently the iPhone XS and XS Max have poor battery life. If you buy it, you will be looking for the wall power outlet a couple of times through your typical day. At least that is the message Huawei is trying to send out by giving Apple fans queuing app outside Apple Store in Singapore to get the just-released iPhone XS and XS Max.

The Apple fans while queuing up, had people wearing Huawei t-shirts approach them and gave them power banks for free. Huawei is said to have given out hundreds of these power banks specifically to the people lining up to get the new iPhones.

To make matters worse, the power bank’s box had the words ‘Here’s a power bank. You’ll need it. Courtesy of Huawei.’

The power banks Huawei is giving out for free are not some old units that the company is trying to clear out of their store. Neither are they cheap! They are the Huawei SuperCharge 10,000mAh power banks that go for about $59 per unit.

This move is undoubtedly Huawei trying to troll Apple, and it has been subtly doing so ever since Apple announced the new iPhones. Shortly after the iPhones were launched on Sept 12, Huawei posted on social media a video saying ‘Thank you for letting us be the real hero for the year. See you in London 16.10.18.’

In case you still don’t get the troll in that statement. Huawei is scheduled to launch a new smartphone in London come October 16th. The new phone – Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro – and the Chinese OEM has hinted it will come out with advanced features leveraging on artificial intelligence.
