Telephone evolution is on the brink of reaching the next step of foldable phones, and two of the biggest Android OEMs – Huawei and Samsung – are on an arm’s race to release their flagship foldable smartphones.

Huawei’s Ken Hu has made that race more interesting by revealing the planned launch of Huawei’s first foldable smartphone will also feature 5G connectivity. That will effectively become Huawei’s first smartphone with this (5G) next generation of wireless connectivity technology, which comes with faster speeds (by tenfold) compared to the current 4G connectivity. 5G comes with faster mobile broadband, lower latency, and improved Internet of Things experience.huawei foldable smartphone

The Huawei foldable smartphone with 5G connectivity will also arrive earlier than anticipated. The launch is expected to happen somewhere mid-2019; though in an earlier Huawei event, the OEM promised its 5G phone to launch somewhere in the second half of 2019.

Honor, a sub-brand of Huawei, is also said to be working on releasing a 5G ready smartphones. However, there is no official communication as to when we can expect the device to be released.
