The Hyundai Nexo has unveiled a new hydrogen fuel-cell car f at the CES 2018 in Las Vegas.
Hyundai promises the vehicle is near-production and if you have not yet noticed. The fuel-cell looks like your typical SUV vehicle. The design follows Hyundai’s FE concept we first saw from the company at the last Geneva.
The fuel-cell car cancover 500 miles on a single full tank (or is it charge?). It has 160bhp, which is a 20% increase in performance compared to its predecessor, the Ix35 Fuel Cell.
It sprints from 0-60mph in just 9.5 seconds, the previous model takes 12.5 seconds. It is said, for a fuel cell vehicle, the 0-30 sprint will be the most punchy and effective. For folks living in coldcountries, you will be glad to know that Hyundai has made special arrangement to make sure the vehicle still works in temperature below -30 degree Celcius (-22 Fahrenheit). The company has made fitting to help bring down the cost of the vehicle.
Hyundai also promises a “highly durable catalyst technology” that will give you more longevity compared to the predecessor, the Ix35 Fuel Cell. Though we don’t knowthe official name of the SUV yet, we do know this much; it will come with three equally-sized tanks. Each fitted with things like plastic liner and a layering pattern designed to reduce the thickness and improve storage mass per tank weight.
The car will also come with loads of the latest driver assistance technology; the stuff you are already familiar with if you drive any of these high-end cars. The assistance technology will include cruise control, remote parking, blind spot monitor with live video footage instead of some beeps or flashing lights.
Hyundai Nexo plans to roll out 21 eco-friendly set of wheels through its brand and the Kia brand by the year 2020. The 21 vehicles will drive across the range of powertrains including electric, hybrid, and fuel cell.
