If you spend most of your time using the computer, then you probably know how fast using the mouse gets boring and tedious. The same goes to if you spend most of your time online, your browser becomes your gateway to the Internet, and knowing how to open and close that gate fast could save you time and spare your concentration for something else.

First and foremost, users on Windows can open the three most popular browsers by pressing the following keys on their keyboard ‘Windows Key + R’ and type the name of the browser they want to use and press Enter key.

To open Google Chrome – type chrome, to open Mozilla Firefox – type Firefox and to open Opera Browser – type opera and hit the Enter key.

Now that you have your browser open (Chrome, Firefox or Opera) below are some browser keyboard shortcuts that ought to be basic to everyone:

Ctrl + L / Alt + D: moves the cursor to the browser’s address bar

Ctrl and + or : the former zooms in while the latter zooms out the size of the text

Ctrl + 0: this resets the text to their original size

Ctrl + R or F5: refreshes or reloads the web page

F11: Press one to make the browser Window full screen and press again to return to standard view

Ctrl + F or F3: opens the ‘Find Box’ where you can search for particular text within the web page currently being read

Ctrl + T: move to the next open tab on the same browser Window, if you press Shift while at it, you will move to the previously open tab

Ctrl + Shift + T :Open the just closed tab

Ctrl + W: Close the particular webpage you are currently viewing

Ctrl + U: this trick is for power users interested in knowing the source code of the webpage you are viewing
