Ampion and Merck announce first healthcare accelerator on the African continent

On Friday, July 24, Ampion and Merck will hold a joint press conference on the eve of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2015 in Nairobi at 12:30 PM local time. The conference, set to take place at co-working space Nairobi Garage, will announce the first healthcare accelerator for startups in Africa.
The conference can be followed online. Through a broadcast on the mobile application Periscope (available for iOS & Android) you can tune into the live-stream. The broadcast will be available via the Ampion’s Twitter account @ampionafrica.

The press conference will begin at 12:30PM, with an introduction from Ampion Founder Fabian Guhi and co-founder Ifeanyi Oteh elaborating on the accelerator’s program. Following, Merck’s Project Manager from the CEO Office, Alexander Hoffmann, will explain Merck’s role in the project.
The speakers Fabian Guhl, Ifeanyi Oteh and Alexander Hoffmann will then be available for questions. They will be joined by Ampion Co-Founder and Head of Communications Jan Schafft and James Odede, a successful entrepreneur who is receiving backing from Merck’s and Ampion’s ongoing partnership. His e-health startup MobiDawa offers free medical information via mobile phone.

From the Kenya International Conference Center the fastest route is to take Karambee Avenue West bound, turn left onto A104, turn immediately right and then follow Ngong Road East bound. The Nairobi Garage lies shortly before Nakumatt Junction on the right side of Ngong Road.
