Now that the iPhone 7 high is starting to die down, Apple fans are about to get hit with another serving of their addiction, the iPhone 8. Though currently, just rumors doing rounds on the internet, sources are leaking features and specs you can expect on the next iPhone from Apple.
If these rumors live up to what they say, Apple is said to be working on a complete design overhaul of the iPhone in their next smartphone.
iPhone 8 to have All-Glass Design
MacRumors for one, is talking about rumors by Ming-Chi Kuo (the notorious Apple leaker, who is almost always correct) of KGI Securities. They say iPhone 8 will be an all-glass design device, which will improve wireless charging.
Current iPhones have a metallic casing, and Kuo makes a case for an all-glass design to be the future for iPhones. It comes with greater advantageous as far as wireless charging is concerned, as metal casing make barriers that have to be overcome. The all-glass design will even make a faster-charging device.
Wireless Chargers to come with your next-gen iPhones
Apple will be shipping out future iPhones with wireless chargers instead of the current wired chargers. Kuo says the wireless charger for the upcoming iPhone 8 will be made by Pegatron. Kuo says:
“In order to ensure a superior performance, we believe it is most appropriate for EMS suppliers to develop and make the wireless charger because then a comprehensive test can be conducted. As Hon Hai needs to deploy most resources to develop and produce OLED iPhone, we expect Pegatron will be the exclusive supplier of the wireless charger.”
The presently available wireless chargers require the smartphones to be placed on top of a base plugged into a power outlet. Apple is rumored to be working on a wireless charging technology that will not require physical contact with the wireless charger. In essence, you might not even need to put down your phone, for it to recharge. Maybe, it will be like how you connect to Wi-Fi, as long as you are within the range, your device will keep charging.
Not One, but Four iPhones will be launched in 2017
The last two phones Apple launched, were two variants of the same model, the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and the iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus. However this year, according to Kuo’s rumors, Apple is going to release three versions of the iPhone 8; a 5.1-inch and 5.2-inch OLED display and 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch LCD display.
The iPhone 8 is also expected not to have the home button but will come with fingerprint sensor inbuilt right inside the screen.
