Japan’s leading smartphone maker, Freetel, enters the Nigerian market in partnership with TD Mobile

Japan’s leading smartphone maker Freetel has partnered with the biggest mobile devices distributor in sub-Saharan Africa TD Mobile to introduce its mobile brand into the biggest economy in Africa, Nigeria.

Freetel was founded in 2012 by a few telecom experts and enthusiast in the city of Tokyo, Japan. The founders had one goal in mind, recreate quality and practical smartphones that Japan has traditionally known for.

Freetel has been on an expansion drive since November 2015, spreading into Asia, Latin America, North America, Middle East, and now Africa. Freetel mobile devices are currently available across 20 countries worldwide, two of which are in Africa; Ghana and Egypt.

The Japanese smartphone maker plans to introduce four (4) different models in Nigeria with price ranging between N13,000 to N38,000. The company says it intends to leverage on the unique design their devices have; apparently, they are designed in Tokyo using the state of the art design. The devices manufacturing is done under the watchful eyes of Japanese engineers each having a working experience of over 40 years and are all Google GMS certified.

Their smartphones are also Google GMS certified and passed through quality checks by expert engineers in Japan. In case you are wondering what GMS Certified means, it means the device meets Google set standards of performance and will run Google apps smoothly.

Freetel International sales VP, Eugene Yoshioka, said “Nigeria is the market for Freetel and we are looking forward to reach out to Nigerian consumers with our latest smartphones. We plan to invest in the country with a full-fledged subsidiary to support sales, marketing, and after sales support.
