JTL Faiba has increased its Bandwith Speeds but not increased the package prices

About a little over 110,000 homes and businesses in Kenya connected to the JTL Faiba are set to get connected to the internet at higher bandwidth speeds but at the same price.

This development comes after fibre internet connection service provider Jamii Telecom Limited (JTL) increased its internet connection speeds. However, unlike its main competitor in fibre internet connection, Zuku who increased both their speeds and prices; JTL is not raising its prices.

JTL Faiba has bumped internet connection speed up to six times faster at the same price for the various packages. In a notice statement sent out to the customers, JTL Faiba says the increased connection speeds will “improve customer experience and affirm Jamii’s position as a leader in the fibre internet market.”

With the higher speed, JTL customers will enjoy faster connection speed to the internet. In addition to higher quality video and audio streaming experience without the nuisance of buffering or slow download experience.

JTL Faiba connection speeds increase

The home package costing Ksh.5,000 and with connections speeds of 5Mbps will still cost the same but with speeds of up to 30Mbps. The most expensive home package that cost Ksh.20,000 with speeds of 20Mbps will now have speeds of 125Mbps at the same prices. For businesses, the Ksh.10,000 package that had the 3Mbps speed will now surf at 15Mbps. More details in the table below:

JTL chairman, Joshua Chepkwony said, “We are overhauling our packages because we feel that Kenya is ripe for high-speed internet. We are increasing the speeds and maintaining the prices as a way of passing the benefits of our upgraded infrastructure capacity to consumers.”

The move to increase internet connection speeds by JTL comes hot on the heels of an announcement by Safaricom that they have now connected more than 81,000 homes with fibre. A development that poses a threat to the JTL market, and to protect its market share the company is giving its customers more for less; the good things competition brings to the consumers!
