Jumia expands “Pay on delivery” to 26 more towns and 15 universities

Jumia has been offering ‘Pay on delivery’ service for a selected number of towns in Kenya now, the leading online mall has announced that the service is available in 20 more towns across Kenya.

Initially, the service was only available to customers residing within 15km of Nairobi, Mombasa and Nakuru Central business districts. Customers beyond the geographical locations were required to pay for their products prior to delivery via mobile money transfer or credit card.

The expansion of this service will ensure customers in these locations across Kenya can shop online, have the items delivered to their office or doorstep and only pay for them only when they see them, touch them, fit them and love them, if you don’t like an item you ordered, you just return it on the spot at no charges,” Parinaz Firozi MD, Jumia Kenya.

The towns include within and around, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nyeri, Embu, Thika, Kikuyu, Kiambu, Ruai, Ndederu, Wangige, Ruaka, Ruiru, Juja, Ongata Rongai, Mlolongo, Athi River, Kitengela, Ukunda, Mtwapa, Shanzu, Miritini, Kongowea, Mkomani, Nyali, Kisaudi, Makupa.

Among the main universities the service will be available include; Mt. Kenya University, Kenyatta University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Nazarene University, Presbyterian University, Thogoto Teacher’s College, UON- Kikuyu campus, Maseno university, Multimedia University, Technical University, Catholic university, Technical university- Mombasa, Kenya school of law, Baraton university, Egerton University.

Earlier in January, Firozi said that plans are underway to build more hubs in more towns within the year as the company gears up for same day delivery a move that could see the e-commerce giant cement its place as the leader in e-tailing.
