Former judge of East Africa’s popular reality TV Tusker Project Fame (TPF) and famous singer Achieng Abura has died at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Reports from a section of the media indicate that the singer, composer, and pianist was hospitalized at the KNH’s private wing. Unconfirmed reports by the media say sources from KNH says Abura had kidney problems. As reported, she was admitted to the hospital on October 13.
Achieng Abura dies on October 20th, on a national holiday when Kenya is celebrating Mashujaa Day [Hero’s Day] in commemoration of the fearless, selfless leaders that have shaped the course of the country.
Abura last Facebook indicate she was fighting a health complication as a result of her efforts to lose weight. The post read:
“I have lost over 50 Kgs [110 lbs.] in the last three years. Everything is hanging and weak. Walking is a problem with pains all over. Doctor says I must add 30 Kgs then lose it as I exercise and firm up. The irony of life. I was not even losing weight intentionally. I allowed life to get the better of me. Learn from my mistakes.”
Achieng Abura had one 23-year-old son. It is also reported her son was scheduled to fly out of the country for medical treatment to undergo a blood transfusion. Abura’s son suffers from a heart condition and sickle cell.
