The Late Joan Rivers “Talks About” the iPhone 6 on her Facebook Page
Last Friday, (Sept. 19th) the late Joan Rivers’ Facebook page sparked a wide mix of reactions after “she posted” updates about her plans to buy the iPhone 6. This is despite the fact that she died on September 4th, five days before the official launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The post read “This badass is being replaced by an iPhone6 (not the fat one),” and was accompanied by a picture of the iPhone 4S. The post was quickly deleted afterwards. Clearly, the post was not written by the famous comedian, but as speculated, it was scheduled set to post on Friday, when the iPhones will be hitting the stores.
It is not uncommon for celebrities and politicians to have a hired publicists or representatives to post on their behalf on social media. This could have been the case with the “Rivers posting” case. Whoever posted as Rivers might have faced more problems, than just posting as a dead woman on the phone, Rivers was very unlikely to have ever seen.
In the post, “Rivers” wrote, “I got this one in 2010, and after 4 years, my only complaint is that apps are now designed for bigger screens, and the battery is getting tired.”
People’s reaction on the posts from a dead woman did not end with the deleting of those “Rivers” posts. Some went as far as taking screenshots of the posts and sharing them on their various social media accounts. Others started having some fun with the “Rivers posting on Facebook” story.
Somebody wrote on Twitter, “iPhone is so big, Joan Rivers came back from the dead to endorse it.”
Another wrote, “Joan Rivers talking about the iPhone 6… Maybe The Cloud is more than we think.”
