Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro Review

Lenovo launches another hybrid laptop in Yoga series with an entirely new design that will blow away the previous models in this series. The specifications and features are really good, but the performance lags as compared to hybrid laptops from companies like Dell, HP, and Toshiba. Today, we will analyze Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro specs and price.

Price

Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro is available from Amazon for $1399.99. The price is worth for its high-end features and convertible-hybrid design.

Hardware

Intel’s Core M platform allows companies to manufacture ultra slim laptops. This 13-inch hybrid laptop is just half-inch thick and weighs 2.62 pounds. It is quite light as compared to MacBook Air that weighs 2.62 pounds. With 360-degree hinge and still keeping the skinny design, speaks of the versatile design of the hybrid laptop.

The laptop’s weight is distributed across six discrete hinge points, instead of just two. The new design allows you to keep the laptop flat on the table with keyboard and screen facing up. The hinge is still quite strong and you can fold the screen back into tablet form.

Due to new hinge design, the room for venting on back edge is missing. In fact, hybrid-laptop contains a small fan on the backside, but the air comes out of a tiny slit.

Overall, the design concept is similar to the one followed in the previous versions of Yoga series laptops. The style, slim structure, bending capability, and other aesthetics make it worth purchasing.

Display

Lenovo has kept the same display from the previous models. It offers 13.3-inch, 3200×1800 IPS panel. The viewing angles are superb. Lenovo has also coated the screen in a low-glare finish that ensures light reflections stay out of the way. 72% color gamut allows for some crisp and sharp colors.

Sound

Lenovo has moved to a different brand (JBL) of speakers as well as new equalizer software from MaxxAudio to keep sound well tuned for users. Placement of speakers on the bottom side of the laptop masks the healthy volume somewhat. The sound seems to be tinny and distant instead of equalized.

Performance and Battery Life

Core M optimizes the power consumption of the battery, but by compromising the performance as compared to the fourth generation Intel Core processors. However, the difference and lag in performance will not be that obvious in every day usage. The new WiFi 802.11ac radio maintains fast and reliable connection. The machine stays cool as a result of using power-optimized processor.

On paper, the battery capacity of Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro is smaller as compared its predecessor due to its smaller size. However, the runtime is significantly higher. This laptop could stay 7 hours and 36 minutes alive for continuous video playback that is almost an hour longer than the previous model.

Software

You can use Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro in three different modes: notebook, tablet, and tent. Lenovo offers an app called as Yoga Harmony that suggests apps depending upon the mode you are running. For example, when you are using it as a regular notebook, you will use keyboard and mouse apps. When you switch to Stand mode, it will show apps for Yahoo Weather, YouTube, and Dailymotion.

Overall, Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro review suggests that it is a stylish and skinny laptop that is quite easy to carry. The performance is good, but not extra ordinary. Battery life will pass your hectic working day on laptop. Lenovo Yoga 3 specs and price make it a worth purchasing device.
