Liverpool FC Launching A Soccer Coaching Program in South Africa This December

Liverpool FC has made an announcement that it will be launching the clubs first official soccer coaching program in South Africa come December, 2014. The move has been made possible through the club’s partnership with Blue Cranes Sports (Pty) Ltd.

The program will teach local South African kids living in Johannesburg and Durban how to play soccer ‘The Liverpool Way’. The program will enroll kids between the ages of 5 to 14 and take them through training that will hone their physical, technical, tactical and social skills in playing the game.

The program will also encompass a coach training program to equip the local coaches better on supervising the local football clubs using international standards. Official coaches from the Liverpool FC will travel to South Africa to conduct the program.

The club is also planning to establish a permanent player development center in Durban, to provide the training opportunity for local young, gifted players throughout the year. The young players will be coached to perfect their skills, using the same coaching program big stars like Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling and Jamie Carragher undergo at Liverpool.

The club’s legend and official ambassador, Ian Rush said: “Liverpool FC has a huge number of fans in South Africa, so it’s fantastic that local young players are going to get the chance to train and develop their skills under our LFC coaches. This is a unique program, and we are confident that it will be well received by the participants.

It’s a great opportunity for youngsters to feel closer to the club they love, and to get a real sense of what it’s like to learn how to play ‘The Liverpool Way.’ We are looking forward to delivering the first coaching programs in December this year.”

His counterpart, Carlos Catalino, the Managing Director at Blue Crane Sports added: “We are excited about the partnership we have agreed with Liverpool FC to bring the very best technical expertise to the coaching programs here to South Africa. We are aiming to provide a market-leading platform for local players to take their development to the next level.

Through this initiative, we will provide many opportunities for young players and coaches across the KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng provinces, to really develop the game here in South Africa.”
