Meet Chana Ginelle Ewing; Founder Of GeenieBox

We have all heard about the online subscription box that you received every month ranging from food to beauty. Now, there is a unique twist on the online monthly subscription game- GeenieBox . What is a GeenieBox? It is a box curated for black women by a different iconic Black woman delivering inspiring books, exclusive invites, and fabulous products to shape and sharpen your Magic.

Well, Chana Ginelle Ewing, the Founder/CEO of the GeenieBox is throwing her hat into the online monthly subscription game. Innov8tiv got a chance to ask Chana a few questions about the GeenieBox. Below is the interview:

What is your background?
Over the past six years, I have run a small branding and marketing company (littlebigGirl + CO) which I like to call a “connections studio” – our primary focus is to help small businesses, tech startups and non-profits tell stories that impact and connect their audiences. At littlebigGirl + CO, I have had the opportunity to work one-on-one with dozens of (mostly women) entrepreneurs, helping these founders shape and share their voice
Beyond my business, I created Michelle O Brunch, which was a regional networking event series showcasing Black female achievement. Also, currently, I am the co-host of the Doyennes’ Den, an internet radio show featuring “women living boldly.” At Core, I am a storyteller and I especially interested in using both the discipline and experience of storytelling to enrich the lives of Black women.

Why did you start GeenieBox?

I was inspired to create GeenieBox out of our experience with Michelle O Brunch (MOB). Black Girl Magic was palpable at MOB events. My goal with GeenieBox is to reach and inspire more people, particularly ambitious Black women, to live their version of success than we could have with a purely offline experience.

Where did the name GeenieBox come from?
The brand is a play on genius, which is ultimately, what we are amplifying and Genie, the magic that exists inside iconic Black women

Who is your target market?

The college graduate to the chameleon on her 2nd or even 3rd career.

How hard has it been to convince companies to be part of GeenieBox?
Thankfully, the brands we have been in conversation with have been receptive to what we are doing.

What’s next for GeenieBox?
Right now, it is all about getting to know our customers and building a product they love. Each month we feature a new Geenie (iconic Black woman), so we are also thinking through our relationship with the women we profile.

We are excited to share that our April Geenie is Crystal McCrary, award-winning film/television producer, director and author.
