Microsoft is inviting Windows 10 Insiders to test Office Desktop Apps from the Windows Store

In May this year, Microsoft launched the Office desktop apps, but it was only available for Windows 10 S device; the Surface Laptop. Then again last month, Microsoft extended the Office desktop apps availability to all Windows 10 S PCs. Today, the company has extended the Office desktop apps to users in the Windows Insiders program. 

However, to for Windows Insiders users to try out the Office apps, they must first get an invitation link from Microsoft. As it is, Microsoft is sending out invites to a select number of Windows Insider users to try out the Office 365 desktop apps in their ordinary Windows 10 PCs. Eligible Windows Insider users must be running Windows 10 Creators Update or later version. 

The Redmond tech giant is said to be working on releasing the Office desktop apps in the Windows Store before the turn of this year. If you are looking forward to using this office suite, you better know and prepare there is a slight difference between the Office desktop app from the Windows Store and the regular Office suite. 

For one, you can only install the 32-bit version of the Office suite from the Windows Store, and you will not be able to use COM add-ins. The Office desktop apps also does not have the OneNote 2016. Instead, it has the OneNote app for Windows 10.
