Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program is inviting girls from across North America to take part in a learning program where they will be taught matters coding. The attendees will be drawn from girls who are currently in high school as juniors and seniors. Interested participants have to gather at the nearest hosting cities in hope of getting lucky enough to be selected to take part in a free seven weeks computer science education.

Some of the recent cities to take part in this program include New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston and San Jose. For the year 2015, Microsoft has decided to join the bandwagon and become a host for the Girl Who Code Summer Immersion program. It will be important to note, that Microsoft already has another initiative with an almost similar goal dubbed the Microsoft YouthSpark Program.

20 girls from the Seattle area are expected to be chosen to attend the Girl Who Code program at Redmond campus.

For the year 2015, Girls Who Code wants to increase its outreach across North America from just 19 programs taking in 375 participants, to 60 programs taking in 1,200 girls. The girls will be taught foundational computer science tools such as mobile apps, web development, games, web design and computer languages like Java, Python, and HTML.
