Did you miss the Free Upgrade to Windows 10? Here is how to still catch that Free Boat

Friday, July 29 was the last days Windows PC users had to upgrade their previous version of Windows to Microsoft latest offering Windows 10. It has been a year now since the operating system was available as a free upgrade to users of Windows 7/8/8.1.

The free upgrade boat has left the docks, and if you are regretting not having taken the free upgrade opportunity. There is still a loophole that could see you aboard the free Windows 10 upgrade.

Microsoft is still allowing a free upgrade to Windows 10 for users using assistive technologies like screen reading tools. Then again, it is not like Microsoft is verifying whether or not users are using such tools. Neither is the company restricting its consideration for free Windows 10 upgrade post-July 29 deadline on very specific technologies.

With that said, you should still be able to upgrade to Windows 10. To do so, go to this web page on Microsoft’s site and hit the ‘Upgrade Now’ button to download an installation tool that will jumpstart the upgrade process.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update coming out tomorrow

Microsoft is also throwing a birthday celebration for its Windows 10 one-year run. Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 2nd, the company will be rolling out a huge Anniversary update. That will give users additional features such as Windows Ink suite, which users can use with stylus pens, the Edge browser will get extensions, there will be a natively integrated bash shell, you can use Cortana on the lock screen, and my personal favorite, a Dark Mode interface.
