MTN Cameroon has launched 4G LTE network across the main cities in Cameroon. The move is expected to boost Cameroon’s economy and give more people quick access to essential Internet services.

MTN Cameroon currently commands about 10.4 million mobile subscribers across the country, out of the total population of about 22.8 million people living in that country.

Linda Kouam, the MTN Chief Marketing Officer while talking to journalists, said, “The 4G of MTN Cameroon is an evolution. Cameroon’s economic growth will change. It’s access to education for millions of young people; it’s access to healthcare, to sanitation program in the whole world.”

The MTN 4G LTE network will be first available in the capital, Yaounde and other cities like Bamenda, Doula and Buea.

MTN’s chief rival in Cameroon, Orange through its spokesman Valentine Simeon Zinga said that the firm has both the technical and technological capability to launch its 4G network. Orange says it is only waiting for the government regulation to grant it the permit.
