New Report : Tech Watchers Anticipate Arrival of Windows 9
You might have heard that Microsoft is planning to roll out the first update, dubbed as “Update 1” for Windows 8.1 this year, but Mr-Knows-All-Things-Tech—particularly when it comes to Windows rumors and Microsoft news—Paul Thurrot has leaked that Microsoft has some big plans to unveil at the upcoming BUILD Developer’s Conference in April: Windows 9.
The latest development is still cloaked under the label of “project threshold.” The first update to Windows 8.1 has already been announced, and it will be more of a service pack/feature pack-type one called Update 1 (or GDR1 internally). Similarly, there is a Windows 8.1 for Phone project in the pipeline as Microsoft execs have indicated that Windows Phone and Xbox will be the two main areas it will be targeting for at least the next 3 years.
Windows 9 is a big component of Project threshold, and Microsoft is not going to spill the beans in haste this time. One thing is for sure, the software maker wants to relegate Windows 8 in the minds of consumers just like Windows Vista.
Exactly how Microsoft will do that is still murky. As for the details on what Windows 9 will be offering to crunch the Windows 8 debacle? We still await the answers.
