Barely 14 days after the South African-based Nomanini mobile Point of Sale platform raised $450 million for its international expansion, it has announced that informal vendors and micro-entrepreneurs throughout Africa have made more than a million transactions on its tough terminal.

Nomanini facilitates cash transactions in the emerging markets and is popularly used for making electricity bills payments, mobile prepaid airtime purchase, insurance premiums collections among others.

The Nomanini’s terminals are designed to be highly scalable, with cloud-based backend to enable enterprises to efficiently distribute prepaid vouchers and enable micropayments. At the same time acting as a source of income for entrepreneurs in the informal sector.

Nomanini’s Co-Founder and CEO, Vahid Monadjem, said, “We’re incredibly proud of the work we’re doing in these markets. We could not have achieved this milestone without our vendors in South Africa and partners across the rest of the continent.”

Nomanini was founded back in the year 2010 and has so far signed partnership deals in Nigeria, Zambia, Mozambique and Kenya. It has active terminals processing nearing about one million transactions in these markets, including South Africa.

So far it has attracted investments from Rockbridge Investments, Esther Dyson and IDC.
