iPhone has two modes of messaging if we talk about the native message apart from apps like WhatsApp, Line, Viber. The first is iMessages and the other one is normal SMS messages. A number of iPhone users, especially iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users, frequently claim that they are not receiving text messages in iPhone in normal SMS app. Luckily, you can fix not receiving text messages in iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or any other iPhone model by using some common working solutions. Try the methods mentioned below one by one.

Restart your iPhone

The first and obvious solution is to reboot your device. For that, press and hold Home and Power button until you see the Apple Logo. After reboot, try sending messages from someplace else to your iPhone and see if the problem is fixed or not.

Turn off SMS Forwarding

The other fix to not getting SMS messages in iPhone is to tinker with SMS forwarding. SMS forwarding is a common feature introduced in iOS 8, which converts messages, lets you send and receive SMS messages, and act as a relay between sent and received messages. Here’s what you should do.

Launch Settings app in your iPhone and go to Messages.

Tap Text Message Forwarding.

Turn off forwarding to all devices in the list for Mac, other iPhones, iPad using the toggle bar in front of each device.

Reboot the device and try sending any sms message to your iPhone.

Reset Network Settings in your iPhone

The third fix to message reception problem in iPhone is to reset network settings because most of the times, the network connections, cache get jumbled up, messing up iPhone reception filter and buffer. Here’s how to fix it.

Launch Settings app, go to the General Tab and tap ‘Reset’

Now Tap on Reset Network Settings.

Let the iPhone restart.

Turn off LTE

LTE could also cause messages not received in iPhone problem because the iPhone gets confused between data, internet and carrier services when LTE is not stable. You can either turn off LTE in iPhone or only make it enabled for the mobile data.

Launch Settings in your iPhone and tap ‘Cellular’

Tap on LTE.

You can either tap Off to completely turn off the LTE or just select ‘Data Only.

The Last Resort: Restore

The last option is to restore the iPhone, but that should not be done until you have a backup, or no fix is working.
