For tech junkies who have been dying to get their hands on the Google Glass, but for one reason or another have not yet been able get it yet. You will be glad to know that Google has launched a pilot program for free home try-on pilot. This news of Google enabling potential Explorers to try-out Google Glass at home before they part with their $1,500 to buy the gadget was first released by a Reddit user named clide.

Clide posted various images of the home try-on kit alongside the email below which he received from Google customer representatives:

You told us you’re interested in purchasing Glass, but wanted to wait until we had frames for Glass. We have some good news for you. We recently introduced the Titanium Collection – four feather-light titanium frames that are designed to fit with your prescription and personal style. And even more good news – you’ve been selected to participate in a free home try-on pilot, to help you find the frame style and Glass color that fits you best before you purchase.

No doubt this sounds like early Christmas for all tech-junkies out there. In order to participate in this free home try-on pilot, the steps are listed below:

• Call Google Customer representatives on 855-9GLASS9 and let them know that you’re interested in participating in the home try-on program. You can reach them any day starting 5AM-9PM PST.
• They’ll then send you a home try-on kit alongside all the frame styles and 4 different colors of Glass, completely free of charge.
• You then try out all the styles and can even show them off to your family and friends who can help you make up your mind on the right frame and color that best suits you.
• Send back the home try-on kit using the prepaid labels.

This news led to Spencer Kleyweg of GoogleGlassFans calling the number given above, and the Google Customer representative had the following to tell him:

What You Need To Know

When ordering the Home Try-On Kit, Google will place a $50 hold on your credit card until they receive the kit back within 10 days. Google provides prepaid shipping labels, so you don’t have to worry about paying to ship them back.

The try-on kit is meant to allow users to have a feel of what it’s like using the Google Glass device. They are in a relatively good cosmetic shape but are not meant to power on. Their USB ports have been destroyed to keep the devices from powering on and being actually used.
