Now Android Users Can Test The Office Preview From Microsoft

Following a recent release of the touch-first preview versions of the Office app – Word, PowerPoint and Excel – to Windows 10 Mobile users for testing. The Redmond-based, Microsoft, made another announcement on Tuesday that it has started running a test for the same Office Preview app on the Android platform.

Early adopters consumers on Android platform that would like to take part in these tests can also join in by joining the Microsoft Office for Android community. Microsoft is touting the new office app to be touch-optimized and better serves the particular needs of users that want to work while on the move.

Microsoft went further to announce specific features that users will benefit from by using the new Office Preview. Once a user opens the app, they will be met by the familiar navigation and menu option located at the bottom of their screen, thus giving them easy access. Users can also quickly insert charts, texts, and tables into the Excel app. They can now better track changes made, comment and markup document for other users to read.

The Redmond tech giant also touts the Office Preview to now better facilitate cloud computing. In the sense that users will now have no problems when it comes to saving your Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents on the cloud. The new Office Preview app for Android comes with better support for OneDrive, GoogleDrive, Dropbox, Box and SharePoint. Users can also share documents with others by simply emailing them the link or send it as an attachment.

It goes without saying that the Office Preview has been made available to Android users so that Microsoft can get feedback from them on issues such as how it can better improve users’ experiences on Android devices. The Office Preview app is compatible with Android 4.4 KitKat and higher versions, and would require a device with at least 1GB of RAM.

Microsoft in a blog post also said : “Please note that the existing Office Mobile app for Android phone will still be available in the app store during the Preview. We will disclose more about our plans for this app later in the year when we announce general availability of the new Office for Android phone apps.”
