OneDrive app resides in your system tray. When you see the green progress indicator just below the icon of the app, then it shows that it is syncing files or connecting to your account. You can right-click to access the settings and manage storage. The storage management options will open the setting page in your browser. If you desire to manage storage on your laptop or tablet, you need to go to PC Settings->OneDrive->FileStorage.
You can easily click the icon to see when it was last updated, to open OneDrive folder, and to view the sync progress.
You can choose the folder to sync with OneDrive. The application has changed its way of syncing files. Previously, the application kept just a thumbnail on your local drive, and then fetched the files when you tried to access them.
