Phone Contacts Not Syncing with Google Account Contacts in Android Phones

Android users are facing the problem of their phone contacts not syncing with Google account contacts. When the users are adding contacts to their People App on their phone it is unable to upload it to their Google account even though the auto-sync for Google account is turned on. Moreover, the phone also claims that the contacts have been synced with the Google account but when the users open their account on computer, the contacts have not been synced. Below are the solutions to the issue of phone contacts not syncing with Google account contacts in Android phone.

Synced Account

Make sure and check that if you have added multiple accounts in your Android phone, Google account has been selected for syncing of contacts. In People App you can click on the drop down menu at top of the contact and change it to your desired account i.e. Google account.

Google Account

Do check the settings of your Google account to solve the issue of phone contacts not syncing with Google account contacts on Android phone. Go to your phone’s Settings, then go to Accounts. Under the Accounts tab, go to Google. Now, make sure the box next to contacts is checked to sync your phone contacts with Google account contacts.

Also, when you add a new contact ensure that it is being synced to Google account. Otherwise by default the contact is stored on your phone and will not sync to your Google account. From the drop down menu, select Google account. After you have created the contact, there is no way to sync it to Google account. You can verify it by searching for an existing contact that you created on your computer and compare it with contact you created using your phone. In this way all your contacts will be synced to your Google account and the problem of phone contacts not syncing with Google account on Android phone would be resolved.

Merge Contacts

Another solution which you can try to solve the glitch of phone contacts not syncing with Google account contacts on Android phone is to merge your contacts. To merge your contacts, go to your phone’s Settings and then go to Contacts. Under the Contacts tab, tap on menu and select Contacts to Display. Then, select device (a blue phone); only contacts on your phone will be displayed. Now, from menu select Merge Account and select the option of merging with Google account. In this way all the contacts will be merged.

Export/Import Contacts

Export your phone contacts as v-card or similar and then import them again. When you will import your contacts again, the phone will prompt you to select the email account you want to sync your contacts to. Select your Google account, it will sync your phone contacts with your Google account. This will put an end to the setback of phone contacts not syncing with Google account contacts on Android phone.
