PILOT Innovation Challenge 2016

PILOT Innovation Challenge 2016

Could your idea be the solution to one of broadcasting’s biggest challenges?

The broadcast industry is continuously evolving as it explores new ways to produce, deliver and distribute engaging content. PILOT is calling on all entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and creative thinkers to submit their ideas for accelerating broadcast innovation in the first annual PILOT Innovation Challenge.

What is the Challenge?

How might local television and radio broadcasters engage their communities with next generation content on any device, whether big, small or moving?

What do I need to do?

All you have to do is submit your idea at and include a title, description, concept illustration and a simple business case for generating revenue. The idea must address the challenge and will be judged on its innovation, the value proposition to both the audience and broadcasters, as well as its viability or execution. Key judging criteria will include:

Value to Audience: How valuable is the concept to the audience?

Value to Broadcasters: How valuable is the concept to broadcasters?

Viability: How likely is it that this concept could support itself and turn a profit?

Feasibility: How well thought out is the concept implementation?

Originality and Creativity: How unique, original and creative is this concept?

Then what?

Submissions will be judged by a diverse panel of experts from the broadcast, venture capital, media and tech industries. Submissions will be narrowed down to 10 semifinalists by the end of September. Then, a smaller panel of judges will select the top three finalists.

What if I win?

If your solution is selected as one of the top three that best addresses the challenge topic, you are a winner! In addition to prize money to help you get your business off the ground, the PILOT Innovation Challenge winners will receive relevant mentorship, access to key broadcast executives and unmatched exposure at industry events.PILOT Innovation Challenge 2016
