Playboy deletes Facebook accounts joining Telsa and Space X | #DeleteFacebook campaign is real

#DeleteFacebook campaign. You might have seen it and dismissed it as another vague attempt to try and pin down a might company such as Facebook that is probably going to burn out sooner than you can say soon. Well, Playboy has just deleted its Facebook accounts. All thanks to that campaign.

For Mark Zuckerberg and team, s#$t just hit the fan. Time to go on damage control gear. As Playboy issued a press statement on Tuesday night announcing it has officially withdrawn from using Facebook.

All the Facebook accounts operated by Playboy Enterprises have been deactivated, leaving over 25 million followers out in the cold. This news comes hot on the heels of a recent order by Elon Musk instructing the deletion of Tesla and Space X Facebook Pages.

The recent news about Facebook’s alleged mismanagement of users’ data has solidified our decision to suspend our activity on the platform at this time. There are more than 25 million fans who engage with Playboy via our various Facebook pages, and we do not want to be complicit in exposing them to the reported practices,” read the statement from Playboy.

Is Playboy’s move a drop in the ocean?

It is no secret, Playboy best days are behind it, as it no longer have an immense cultural influence it once did. However, the brand is quite influential among the older generation; though not so much on the youths. Though the fact that Telsa and SpaceX have also joined it, give their move more relevance and weight.

Are you ignoring the fact Instagram too is owned by Facebook?

Facebook deleters behind the #DeleteFacebook campaign are not also calling for the deletion of Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp accounts. They are only focusing on Facebook and if the allegation of users’ data mismanagement is true. Who is to say Instagram and WhatsApp are also not affected?
