Seedstars Africa summit 2017

The Seedstars World (SSW) is a global community that provides platforms for entrepreneurs in technology in emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes. It is inherent with the Seedstars Summit and the thirds of the annual Africa Summit in connection with most relevant players in innovation and technology with the world, intertwined with each other.

Throughout 2017 it hosted competitions in 20+ African nations. Its primary motive was the identification of the most promising startups and analyzation of the local ecosystems. As a result, it brought together the best and most promising entrepreneurs with ecosystems players, mentors, investors, corporates and other entrepreneurs across Africa. Local ambassador organization UX Information Technologies and Standard Bank were the main platinum sponsors that hosted the event with support from local and international partners such as the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Embassy of Switzerland, Enel, Merck, Orange, Microsoft, amongst others.

The Africa Regional Summit was attended by over 500 individuals and lasted for three days. It commenced with a boot camp for the participating startups, an ecosystem tour, investor day culminating with a Conference on 14th December.

Entrepreneurship and technology in emerging markets have been a long and exciting journey. The Seedstars DNA main agenda is to be on the ground working directly with startups, corporates, and other stakeholders. The exact reason why we are traveling to 88+ ecosystems globally and over 20 African countries this year. The excitement is immense to be able to bring the entire network together in Mozambique this year. Moreover together look into some of the opportunities of the continent and explore how technologies can rapidly improve the current status quo in emerging markets worldwide.
