Red Redemption put up a good fight but not enough to topple FIFA 19 in 2018 Sales

FIFA 18 closed the year 2018 at the top of the world. That is at least as by the UK charts for last year. The title managed to leave in the dust some big titles like the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The year 2018 was generally a busy year for video game publishers, while at the same time, gaming console sales were also pretty high. FIFA 19 was certainly a best seller, but the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) and the God of War also won multiple Game of the Year Awards for last year. But none came close to physical sales for FIFA 19.

The game garnered some 1,89 million boxed sales last year. When you take a look at digital sales, FIFA 19 still maintains the leads over all the other titles. In 2018, FIFA 18 sold over 2.5 million copies.

FIFA 18 still grossed higher than FIFA 19

Though FIFA 19 top the charts in the UK over 2019, it is still considerably behind its predecessor the FIFA 18, which sold just a little under 2.7 million. Even in 2018, FIFA 18 continued to sell well, selling at least 350,000 physical copies and making it to position 10 in the 2018 rankings.

In the second place, RDR2 was not that far off on the having sold 1.75 million. CoD: Black Ops 4 got the third place with 1.17 million sales. And PS4’s Spider-Man became the most console exclusive with most sold games. It took fourth place with over 676,000 sales.

Last but not least was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a Nintendo Switch exclusive title that came in at position five with 458,000 sales. That is more than it sold back in 2017.
