Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy Note 5 Launched: Quick Look at Features, Hardware, Price

Samsung has finally revealed the much awaited Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5. The new refresh in the Galaxy flagship is packed with some exciting features and hardware additions. Here’s a quick review and images of the two now astonishingly beautiful devices.

Performance

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 packs Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor, 4GB RAM and 3,000mAh non-removable battery. Galaxy S6 Edge has the same Android 5.1 Lollipop version with some slight changes as compared to its predecessor device. The camera is also same 16-megapixel sensor based. Galaxy S6 Edge+ has 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display. Its edges and body are somewhat similar to Galaxy S6 Edge.

Note 5 has same performance specs, memory and GPU specs as that of Galaxy S6 Edge+.

S-Pen

Samsung has revamped S-Pen in Note 5 big time. The hardware of S-Pen is now more easy and shiny. You can flush in the Pen completely in the phone when not in use. The Pen allows PDF annotation, Air Gestures, PDF signing and writing have become more natural.  There is no latency whatsoever in the Note 5 Pen input mechanism.

Hardware

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ size, length and width are also remarkably similar to Samsung Galaxy S6, the device which the Korean giant launched just five months ago. S6 Edge+ is around 12mm longer and 5mm wider than the S6 Edge. Its thickness is 6.9mm, whereas S6 Edge was 7.0mm thick.

The hardware and looks of S6 Edge+ are also almost similar to the previous phone. The screen and edges are same; you will be happy to see a metallic body in Edge+, and it seems Samsung will just stick to giving metallic bodies in the future too as it has had given enough of cheap plastic bodies.

Useful New Features in Galaxy S6 Edge+

Samsung has corrected two of the major issues faced by users in Galaxy S6 Edge. The first battery: Galaxy S5 Edge+ packs 3,000mAh battery, which is slightly better than S6 Edge. Albeit not removable, the new battery will give some extra time to the users.

The other improvement is in the software part. In S6 Edge, there was a new feature named “People Edge”, which allows you to quickly access the most frequently accessed contacts. S6 Edge+ now brings “Apps Edge”, which gives you an option to quickly open the apps you mostly use without going into details and menu.

Another interesting feature available in Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ is the ability to live stream videos directly to YouTube, thanks to the latest partnership of Samsung and Google. You can make high quality, 1080p at 60 frames per second videos from Galaxy Note 5 and Edge+, quickly get a URL, share on social media. It’s more like the native Periscope at hand.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 will be up for sale from 21st August. Preorders start today. Both phones will be available in Black, Gold and White.

Nothing is announced regarding price of both the devices, but the price of Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be higher than S6 Edge.
