The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have now been with us for some few weeks now. These two Google flagship devices for 2017 might be the last flagship smartphone to be unveiled until the turn of the year.
While some of us might be lusting after these devices, yet your wallets do not allow you to own one. You can make your current Android device feel like the Pixel 2s smartphone. How, do you ask?
Well, by taking the same launcher running on the Pixel 2s and laying it over your current Android phone. The hardware might not be the same, but at least to some extent, the software will feel closer to being similar.
The Pixel 2’s Launcher and Wallpaper
This launcher gives you more than just the feel of running a ‘near-Pixel-2-device,’ it is actually a pretty functional launcher that you could easily like using. The Pixel 2 launcher comes with a radical design; though the phones themselves are not that radically different from their predecessors.
The launcher has the search bar at the bottom of the home screen. The appropriate position for guys with small hands who want to firmly hold their smartphone from the bottom while still able to type on the search bar.
You can download and install the Pixel Launcher to any Android device running Android Lollipop and higher. The best part is that you don’t need to root your device to have this launcher; it is based on an APK file. Meaning you can install it like any regular app.
This app, by XDA Developers, though able to make your Android device mimic Pixel 2s, if want the Google Now panel to work on this launcher as effectively as they typically do, you will need to install the app as a system app. That means rooting your device.
Smartphone not running the latest Android OS, Oreo, will miss out on the ability to enable dots and changing apps’ icons shapes. XDA Developers have also created an app allowing you download Google Pixel Wallpapers. However, this app is only available to users running Android 8.0 Oreo.
