Shock In UK As A Biracial Mother Gives Birth To A Black And White Twins

Last week a British newspaper ran a very interesting story that left many puzzled. Two twins, Lucy Aylmer and Maria Aylmer born to a white father and a biracial mother in 1997 are white and black respectively.

Maria Aylmer has black hair and fair complexion while Lucy is the read head with alabaster skin, yet the two are twins. The British newspaper quoted Lucy saying:

“No one ever believes we are twins. Even when we dress alike, we still don’t look like sisters, let alone twins.

It was pretty hard. It went on in secondary school as well, and it wasn’t very nice.”

The girls were told that chances of such an occurrence are “one in a million” but according to a BBC report on a similar case back in 2011, the chances are 1 in 500.

Lucy told the Daily Mail, “Maria loves telling people at college that she has a white twin, and I’m very proud of having a black twin.”
