Social Networking Demographics: 2013 Edition
Social media is an integral part of our lives. We view it from our phones, tablets, PCs and laptops. But just how much do we use it? And who is using it?

A study by the Pew Research Center  suggests that 73% of online adults use social media – a number that has increased 3% from the prior year. Women (at 78%, compared to 69% of men), Hispanics (79%), urban residents (76%) and those making less than $30,000 a year (77%), are the most common users of social media platforms.

Unsurprisingly, those in age group between 18-29 had an impressive 90% usage. What surprised me, was the numbers for the age groups, 50-64, showing 65% usage and 46% usage for those 65 and over.

Facebook continues to dominate with an impressive 71% of user engagement. Not to worry, LinkedIn is showing an engagement rate of 22% while Pinterest  and Twitter are at 21% and 18% usage respectively.
