E3 2019

The main attraction to the E3 2019, was the prospect that Sony will be unveiling its next console, the PlayStation 5. But guess what, that is not going to happen. There will be no PS5 being launched at this year’s E3 conference. In fact, Sony will be giving the E3 conference a wide berth; and thereby killing a lot of excitement about this conference which Sony contributes a lot.

As the industry evolves, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to look for inventive opportunities to engage the community,” reads in part, a press release issued by Sony to newsrooms.

PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight games. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.”

The beginning of the death of E3 Conference

Now that Sony is not showing up for this year’s E3 conference, there is no doubt the event will not be as thrilling as when the company showed up and pitched their demo tent.

Traditionally, Sony hires a big part of the convention, and it has done so for 24 years now. Another major video game studio that has been giving the conference a wide berth these days is EA and Microsoft. With these three not showing up, the E3 Conference will be a lot deflated.
