Starbucks introduces Coffee Ice Cubes on a pilot program in 56 Stores in Baltimore

The Seattle-based coffee chain Starbucks is working on a pilot program to prevent the watering down of iced coffee when they melt. A serious problem especially during the summer seasons.

During warm weather seasons, Starbucks customers are forced to consume their iced coffee quickly. Perhaps too fast for some customers’ enjoyment, making the whole experience less rewarding as they would have liked it to be.

To stop the watered iced coffee and the depreciating reward to customer’s expectation, Starbucks has devised a new pilot program. One that will see the coffee chain experiment for a while using ice cubes containing coffee. That way, when the iced coffee begins to melt, the coffee ice cubes maintain the same cold coffee taste customers came for.

The coffee ice cubes cost an additional 80 cents. Starbucks customers will have the option of adding the coffee ice cubes to brewed coffee or iced espresso. Starbucks will avail the ice cubes across some 100 stores in Baltimore and St. Louise on a pilot program basis, before rolling it out across all its stores.
