SURFACE LAPTOP

As far as personal technology goes, the major brands that stick out above the rest are Apple, Google, Samsung, and Microsoft among others. However, Microsoft albeit a household name has ceded much ground over the years. Especially when it comes to personal computing; Microsoft used to be the market leader.

Companies such as Google and Samsung have been making cheaper, sleeker, powerful, and affordable devices that have given Microsoft a run for its money. Devices such as smartphones, tablets, and lately the 2-in-1 devices have given Microsoft hardware business a ran for their money.

Nonetheless, Microsoft recently fielded the Surface Laptop, a device it hopes will reenergize its strength in the PC market. The Redmond Company is looking to recapture the PC market.

Surface Laptop has many people talking good about Microsoft

Microsoft has in the recent past given, perhaps too much, thoughts to the gaming industry and turning their back slightly on their first love, the personal computer. There are many laptops in the market running Windows OS, but Surface Laptop is among the few that comes directly from the makers of that OS. That is to say; the laptop must be perfectly tweaked to run the Windows OS.

The specs on the laptop are impressive, the choice of colors leaves little to desire, and they are damn eye-catching. This laptop stands out in the crowd. Much to everyone’s disappointment, Microsoft has not added USB-C to the laptop, which is rather unexpected given the massive numbers of new smartphones and laptops that come with it; and USB-C is becoming a trend. Nonetheless, the Surface Laptop does have the USB-A port, headphone jack, miniDisplay port and a Surface connector.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about the Surface Laptop is its battery life. Microsoft claims that it can take you for up to 14.5 hours on a single charge, and you can even close the laptop and resume work without ever losing any power during idle mode.

The fact that it is a touchscreen laptop is just another great bonus. It screen comes with optimal functionality making it battery last longer than could have otherwise been possible. The base model of the laptop comes with Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, and 128GB SSD; some real top specs lineup. The fact that all these top line specs come on the most affordable version makes the Surface Laptop all the more desirable.

The Surface Laptop runs Windows 10 S

Microsoft has given the option of using Windows 10 S or Windows 10 Pro on the Surface Laptop. The former OS only runs applications from the Windows Store; you will be tied down to ‘Microsoft-approved’ apps only. The laptop comes with Windows 10 S out of the box, but you can opt out and change to Windows 10 Pro for free until the end of the year.
