SV-NED working to bridge the gap between Nigeria and the Silicon Valley for economic empowerment

Silicon Valley Nigeria Economic Development Initiative SV-NED Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley Nigeria Economic Development Initiative (SV-NED) is an organization set up in 2016 as a vehicle for driving economic prosperity for the stakeholders in Nigeria’s tech space and the Silicon Valley. SV-NED achieves so by synchronizing, driving partnerships, and synergy between the two sides.

The organization recently held a three-day economic summit that focused on the job market strategy for Nigerians. The summit aimed at helping leaders understand the job market, how it works, and the opportunities available for Africans within the Silicon Valley market.

During the SV-NED led summit, the organization’s leaders paid a courtesy visit to several tech companies within the Silicon Valley including Tesla Motors, Nextplay, and the San Jose Mayor’s office.

Up to date, SV-NED while operating from the Silicon Valley, has completed two Immersion Training & Certification Programs, which has so far graduated 120 trainees all from Nigeria. It was the same organization that officially invited and welcomed Nigeria’s Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the country’s Minister of Defense Mansur Dan Ali, and the cultural leader, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II to the Silicon Valley.

SV-NED has also hosted the United Nations Women in Technology Conference, a summit that saw top professionals and speakers from LinkedIn, NYU, IBM Watson’s Group, UPENN, and the University of Calabar, Nigeria in attendance.

The organization’s President & co-Founder, Denise Williams, and Chairman/CEO Chief Temitope Ajayi are credited for creating the United Nations SDG goals for 2020. In Spring next year, SV-NED is planning to host the third Immersion Program to five states. A program projected will take in about 5,000 people and offer them training over five weeks.
