Technical.ly Brooklyn Hosting Diversity In/Tech Event
On January 28, 2014, Technical.ly Brooklyn is hosting an afternoon Tech conference focused on increasing the inclusion of underrepresented groups in technology fields in Brooklyn and beyond. This afternoon of dialogue and exchange will help identify issues around diversity in technology and steps that can be taken to correct them.
“Inclusivity in technology and entrepreneurship is a topic of importance for a number of focuses we’ve found in our reporting,” said Christopher Wink, the cofounder and editor of local tech news site Technical.ly Brooklyn, which is organizing the event. “From youth and gender and racial and other underserved communities, we wanted to create an environment to share best practices across those thought leaders.”
Some of the featured speakers of this event includes: Jennifer Lawton, Keynote Speaker (President/MakerBot Industries), William Crowder (DreamIt Ventures), Gauri Nanda (Toymail Co), Jessica Banks (RockPaperRobot), Kelsey Conophy (Workzeit), Aminatou Sow (Tech LadyMafia), Ben Esner (NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering), Stephanie Cuskley (NPower) and Kristina Harris Petersen (Math Warriors).
This event includes everyone from recruiting officers to STEM advocates to entrepreneurs and developers and others with an interest in a broader technology community. To register and learn more about Technical.ly Brooklyn and their upcoming event click here plus follow @TechnicallyBK on twitter.
