3 Nigerian Startups Attending 1176 Challenge Cup Regional Finals

The Nigerian leg of the 1776 Challenge Cup finals took place on January 22, 2016, where world-class startups competed against fellow top startups for the opportunity to granted access to intellectual, social, and financial capital. The pitch event was held at the Gre8 Innovation Hub, in Victoria Island.

The list of Nigerian startups that took to the stage to pitch their products was Agric Hub Nigeria, APMIS Ltd., E-Medic, Foodstantly, Grit Systems, Pass.ng, Redbank, Skills On The House, Talking Books, Tech4Her and Total Prep.

3 Nigerian Startups Attending 1176 Challenge Cup Regional Finals

The judging panels chose the following three Nigerian startups to proceed to the regional finals that will be hosted in Nairobi, Kenya:

Pass.ng: A desktop and mobile-based CBT exam preparatory and testing platform, where Nigerian students can better prepare for their examinations.

Grit Systems: They provide web-based technology solutions for controlling and gathering data on household and commercials electronics power consumption.

Total Prep: They provide software to candidates preparing for an exam that allows them to take practical tests and assessments.

The above three startups emerged as the winners of the 1776 Challenge Cup finals in Nigeria, and will proceed to the regional finals to be held in Nairobi. They impressed the judging panel based on their market size, traction, clear revenue model, capital efficient business, teamwork, and their distribution plan within a regulated industry among other criteria.

The 1776 Challenge Cup regional finals will be held on February 18, 2016, in Nairobi. Winners of the regionals finals will proceed to the next level of the challenge at the Challenge Cup Global slated to be held on June 5-11, 2016 in Washington DC. Winners on at the Global level will walk away with the grand prize of $175,000 cash reward and $1 million worth of investment opportunity.
