The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense was founded in October 1966 in Oakland, California by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. The Panthers implanted a military style self-defense among the minority communities against the US government, which through authorities like the police were seen to be oppressing them.

The Black Panthers intentions were to advocate for equity and civil rights. Their revolutionary culture sought to change drastically the system that was oppressing the minority in America. The documentary features Kathleen Cleaver and Jamal Joseph among others.
