The East African Community Set To Harmonize The Regional Calling Rates
The move to lower calling rates to pocket friendly prices also includes a push for collaboration among the regions communications technology leaders and telecommunication companies and other key stakeholders in the communications industry. The EAC plan is set to involve all the telecommunications companies operating within the EAC member countries.
The Ministers from member countries whose dockets deal with ICT from Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and South Sudan all convened at the One Area Network Project of the Northern corridor infrastructure. The event was sponsored by Airtel Rwanda, in a move to establish a better platform for the EAC bloc traders. The stakeholders proposed that the charges be scrapped off or at least be considerably reduced.
The telecommunication companies and the various EAC member states’ governments are expected to work together to ensure the project will be a success. This move will definitely make the East African Community harmonic in its calling rates.
