Babytree is a China-based startup and an online family platform which aims for child care. Its headquarter is in Beijing, China. It has planned to make an offline community for child care by opening many offline community play centers. It is a maternity and infant website which was introduced in 2007. On August 2007, Babytree was listed by CNN as one of the “Ten Most Striking Business Models.” Babytree’s objective is to help the young and growing families in achieving a healthy lifestyle. It focuses on problems such as the imbalance between consumption and supply of medical resources or an imbalance between supply and demand of education resources. Moreover, Babytree has started developing into a new business of early childhood education and C2M.
The founder and CEO of Babytree is Mr. Allen Wang, who developed this website after leaving Google. His driving force was to create solutions to human problems. Obviously, it was an uncertain career option for a former Google executive. Although he was a father, he had no background or connection in the parenting field. But today, his choice doesn’t sound bad at all. Most founders of internet startups are usually technologists, but Wang is not. He graduated from Tsinghua University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Then, he continued his studies abroad and worked as a consultant in Yahoo, P&G, McKinsey, and Google.
Babytree gives parenting knowledge, activity and interactive services through the website. Babytree connects parents together to communicate and discuss their problems with each other. It has more than 10 million daily active users. Other than the website, it has released two apps: Babytree Pregnancy and Babytree WeTime. Both these apps cover more than 80% of pregnancy-stage parents and parents of infant to six years old children in China. The Babytree Pregnancy app is developed for pregnant mothers to learn scientific information about their child to be and to make friends in similar situation. On the other hand, Babytree WeTime is an app developed for families to track and share their child’s growth. Thus, its intention is to build a platform to continually provide its customers with innovative solutions.
Babytree makes use of its business ecosystem and experience including internet community, original contents, and commercial services to fulfill the requirements of young families for education, child development, sociality and child tracking. The Babytree play centers will run in the society neighborhoods with the features of a daycare facility, family play and retail areas and early childhood development.
