The University of Pennsylvania’s Weiss Tech House in collaboration with the Technology Entrepreneurship Club is hosting the first annual Penn Innovation Conference. The event will take place Oct. 17 at the University of Pennsylvania from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. The Penn Innovation Conference aims to help students achieve entrepreneurial success through a combination of skill-development workshops and an array of hands-on, engaging panel discussions with industry experts.
Keynotes speakers include:
Dr Rajendar Singh: Dr Rajendra Singh is the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and together with his family, the principal owner of Telcom Ventures, LLC, a private investment firms based in Miami, Florida specializing in new wireless communications systems and technologies. Dr Singe currently serves on the board of overseers of the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the board of trustees of John Hopkins University School of Medicine and the board of directors for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Dr Mike Zisman: Dr Mike Zisman founded Golf Genius Software in 2009 after a long career in information technology. Prior to founding Golf Genius, he was founder and CEO of Soft-Switch, Inc., CEO of Lotus Development Corp and a senior executive at IBM. Soft-Switch, founded in 1979, was one of the very first companies to participate in the electronic mail industry, and Mike is regarded as a pioneer in the field of electronic mail.
Dr Vijay Kumar: Dr Kumar is the Nemirovsky Family Dean of Penn Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been on the Faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics with a secondary appointment in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania since 1987. His research interest lie in the area of robotics, specifically multi-robot systems, and micro-robot systems, and micro aerial vehicles.
The Penn Innovation Conference team selected 100 students to attend the conference through a selective application process. These students will receive insight into three growing business sectors; healthcare, consumer facing and B2B startups. Conference Organizer Krish Mehta, a sophomore at Penn, says, “We wanted to create one event that would be at the helm of Penn’s start-up focused culture.” The Weiss Tech House and Technology Entrepreneurship club are working in tandem to make the Innovation Conference a staple event at Penn.
