Truecaller has launched the Africa Launch Event at one of Africa’s leading social innovation center, CcHUB. The event was marked by the presence of some of the top developers, and entrepreneurs Nigeria has to offer; the media was also invited.
During the event, Truecaller announced that as part of its plan, it wants to set up a headquarters in the region and is looking to hire skilled persons to man its operations. It also announced the launch of Developer Program with Truecaller SDK, its mobile identity product for digital startups and app developers.
Using the Truecaller SDK, third party users such as app developers, businesses, and startups can quickly and without much hassle identify users based on their Truecaller profile. All in a one-touch and password-free experience.
Truecaller SDK is already available on Android, iOS, and web. Users can use it on their apps or websites to instantly query onboard, and auto-fill the user’s information or verify the users based on their phone numbers.

Over the years, Truecaller has grown to become one of the fastest growing consumer apps on the African continent. For the last two years, it has topped the App Store Charts in Africa.
The app allows users to know who is calling and filter out spam calls and SMS. It has over 50 million users across Africa and is said to help users to block half a billion spam calls monthly collectively.
The company has the most users in Nigeria; 6.2 million users to be precise. It has also registered the fastest growth rate in Nigeria; 80% growth over the past one year. The company’s stats show the Truecaller app has helped Nigerians block 12 million spam callers and 25 million spam SMS per month. Other African countries where the app has a lot of users include South Africa, Kenya, and Egypt.
