Vodacom Tanzania applauds the government for announcing auction of 700 MHz Spectrum

The government of Tanzania through the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), had on June 8 2018, announced the auction of the 700 MHz spectrum. A move that was well received and praised by stakeholders in the Tanzanian market.

The assignment of spectrum is a progressive step for both the country and economy. It is transformative from a broadband access perspective and the planned utilization of the assigned spectrum will enable Vodacom to measurably contribute to the country’s mobile broadband infrastructure that is a critical element of economic development as noted in the National Information Communications and Technology Policy, 2016,” said Ali Mufuruki, the Chairman of Vodacom Tanzania PLC.

We are delighted to play our part in the development agenda of Tanzania.”

His remark were echoed by the Vodacom Group Chief Operating Officer: International Business, Diego Gutierrez, who added, “We welcome the announcement made by the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority and are pleased with our success in the auction to obtaining much-needed spectrum. This enables us to put into action our plans to accelerate increased coverage and provision of high-speed mobile broadband, supporting a superior 4G data user experience across the country.”
