Finally, the much-awaited feature, WhatsApp dark mode, has rolled out to the stable channel. That comes after months of beta testing across both the Android and iOS platforms.

Now that the feature has been availed on the stable channel. It means anyone who has installed the app on either the Android or iOS platform can use this feature.

Advantages of WhatsApp Dark Mode

During testing, we found that combining pure black and white creates high contrast that can lead to eye fatigue,” explained a spokesperson from WhatsApp.

So instead, you’ll notice a special dark gray background and off-white color that lowers the brightness of the screen, cuts down the glare and improves contrast and readability.”

For users on the iOS 13 or Android 10, who have enabled the system’s dark mode settings. The WhatsApp dark mode will switch over automatically. Users on earlier versions of the two mobile operating systems will have to turn on the dark mode manually by going into the WhatsApp’s settings menu.

Pure Black on iOS, Dark Gray on Android

Now, using the app for chatting late into the night, when you are in bed and turned off the lights, will be friendlier to your eyes. For iOS users, the WhatsApp dark mode will appear as pure black, while for those on Android, it will appear dark gray.

You can say goodbye to the days of squinting your eyes when you pick up your phone to read incoming messages on WhatsApp.

To get the new WhatsApp dark mode, check to see if your app is updated. You can do so by going to the App Store and Google Play Store for iOS and Android respectively.
